Marriage and islam
Marriage in Islam is a sacred bond between a man and a woman, guided by Quranic principles. It’s a mutual contract emphasizing love, respect, and understanding. Encouraged by Prophet Muhammad, marriage fulfills religious, social, and personal duties, offering companionship, tranquility, and a lawful way to satisfy natural desires.
Marriage is an important part of life in many cultures and religions, including Islam. In Islam, marriage is considered a sacred bond between a man and a woman, and it is highly valued as a means of fulfilling one’s religious and social duties.
Nowadays, The relationship culture between the young generation is influencing and some people are even supporting such culture. Islam doesn’t allow any such relations without Nikkah. A nikkah is between two couples in which both are willing to tie the knot together. In Islam, it is a contract exclusively between a man and a woman. Both the groom and the bride are to consent to the marriage of their free will. A formal, binding contract – verbal or on paper.
In the Quran Allah states: “And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.” (Quran 17:32)
The Quran, the holy book of Islam, encourages marriage and describes it as a means of finding tranquility and companionship. It says, “And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts” (Quran 30:21).
In Islam, marriage is also seen as a way to fulfill one’s responsibilities towards society and future generations. It is encouraged for Muslims to marry and have children to maintain and strengthen the Muslim community. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, “Marriage is my tradition, whoever rejects my tradition is not from me” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
The life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) serves as a guiding example for Muslims in all aspects of life, including marriage. His marriage to Khadijah, his first wife, exemplifies the importance of companionship, mutual respect, and support between spouses. The Prophet’s teachings and actions regarding marital relationships provide valuable guidance for Muslims seeking to emulate his exemplary conduct in their marriages.
In Islam, marriage is based on mutual consent and understanding between the man and the woman. Both partners have rights and responsibilities towards each other and are expected to treat each other with kindness, respect, and love. The Quran emphasizes the importance of treating one’s spouse well and says, “And live with them in kindness” (Quran 4:19).
In Islam, marriage is also a means of fulfilling one’s sexual desires in a lawful and dignified manner. It provides a halal (permissible) way for men and women to satisfy their natural desires while fulfilling their religious obligations. Overall, marriage in Islam is considered a sacred and important institution that brings blessings, happiness, and fulfillment to both partners. It is a means of fulfilling one’s religious, social, and personal duties, and it is highly encouraged for Muslims to marry and build families based on love, mutual respect, and understanding.
