Rajab, in the Islamic calendar, falls before the blessed month of Ramadan. This month is the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar and holds special spiritual significance and opportunities for believers to draw closer to Allah. The month of Rajab has a lot of importance. In this blog, we will explore the significance of the blessed month of Rajab. One of the significant events associated with Rajab is the Night of Ascension or Lailat al-Miraj. It is believed that during the 27th night of Rajab, the angel Jibreel (Gabriel) led the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the sacred mosque in Jerusalem, known as Al-Aqsa. From there, the Prophet ascended through the heavens, accompanied by Jibreel., meeting various prophets in each Heaven. This journey is one of the miracles that were bestowed on the Prophet (P.B.U.H). it is the same night when the Prophet was given gifts, including the commandment of the five daily prayers, directly by Allah Tala. The details of this meeting are beyond human comprehension and many scholars have different opinions on this matter. Regardless of various opinions, the night remains one of the spiritual nights. As believers approach this night with devotion and humility and draw closer to the teachings of Islam.

Muslims need to engage in increased prayers, duas (supplications), and seeking forgiveness during the blessed month of Rajab. It is a time to strengthen the connection with Allah and express gratitude for His blessings. While there are no specific obligatory fasts in Rajab, voluntary fasting is encouraged. Many believers choose to fast on specific days, such as the first Thursday of Rajab, known as the “Fast of Ragha’ib.” this can also help us to get started and be prepared for the upcoming month of Ramadan, the month of fasting. Engaging in acts of worship, seeking forgiveness, and fasting during Rajab can help us approach Ramadan with a purified heart and strengthen our connection to Allah.
